Spinning short haired rabbit fur- a challenge!

A friend posted me a bag of rabbit fur from her much loved rabbit, hoping that I could spin it for her. It was not an Angora! I have it on good authority (that of Pliny the Second, AD 75) that cloth cannot be made of the hair of rabbits and hares as the "hair is short and would soon shed." The fur was 1-1 1/4 inch staple and wild rabbit colour. The picture shows the fur, the punis made from it (carded and rolled on to a knitting needle, then pulled off) the spindle and the Andean plyed and washed skein. Looks a bit bristly. Perhaps Pliny was right!
